HILLSIDE RETREAT
Creative concepts, modern fixtures and understanding the client created the unique beauty of this Queensland home.
A true reflection of the owner’s personality, this home was designed as a partnership with Classic Queenslanders, which maintained a close relationship with the client to ensure it not only met, but exceeded, her expectations.
Visiting her previous home enabled the people at Classic Queenslanders to get a good feel for the client’s furnishings, which would be enhanced by the new home, and allowed them to understand her needs, personality and living style which she wanted reflected throughout the home.
Complementing the picturesque surroundings of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, the Queenslander is like no other.
While the façade justifies the builder’s name, the contemporary interior reflects the company’s ability to diversify and create an individual masterpiece each time.
This exceptional home presents many new concepts, including “smart house” technology, whereby the home was designed with preservation of the environment in mind and conservation of energy by having a northern aspect.
The countless windows have two purposes, for aesthetics as well as allowing abundant light, warmth and airflow into the
home to reduce humidity that often comes with living in a warm, damp climate.

| This home, completed in full by Classic Queenslanders, presents warm sophistication with old-fashioned re-machined blackbutt timber floorboards coated with a satin-finish tongue oil that enhances and complements the numerous displays of timeless artefacts and furnishings.
From the entrance hall with interesting three-quarter-height walls disguising the kitchen, the home opens up to a formal
lounge area where the roof line’s exposed beams are lime-washed, keeping the ambience fresh and light while trapeze lights illuminate wall-mounted art pieces.
As the kitchen flows from the formal area, it is completed with an informal dining quarter and breakfast bar. The stainlesssteel appliances blend perfectly with the modern cupboards while the walls were designed specifically to display the antique credenzas, complementing the transition between decorating styles.

A section of the classical verandah has been designed to provide a permanent outdoor dining room, complete with ceiling fan, outdoor buffet and breathtaking views.
The large master bedroom, which can comfortably fit a king-size bed and a day bed, has access to the full-length verandah, a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite with modern furnishings, including feature tiles and an open recess shower for easy cleaning.
A second bedroom is also located on the top floor with French doors opening to allow access to the back verandah, the client’s home office. It also accommodates a grand piano.
Downstairs is the guest accommodation, a full-size living room, with cupboards lining the walls along the passage to provide optimum storage space, including a surprise laundry with space-saving appliances. A pullout folding ironing board, tub and washing machine have been recessed into the internal wall to disguise this unique feature, making it appear as another storage cupboard. A queen-size guest bedroom has a Japanese-style bathroom attached, the bath and shower affording magnificent views over the bush and rolling hills. The room is completed with a modern porcelain
basin positioned on top of a marble vanity.
The exterior is clad with a mixture of textures and colours. The Hardies Linea board exterior is painted in Taubmans Moonriver, while the Woodland Gray Colorbond roof adds a striking contrast.
