The rustic feel of western red cedar weatherboards meshes perfectly with the bushland setting surrounding this Gympie home, which has been constructed with passion and dedication

The owner builders of this bush retreat set up home in a caravan and tin shed on their block while working on their dream home. Classic Queenslanders helped bring the dream to fruition with a kit to suit their requirements. This much-loved home was designed and strategically positioned to enhance the airflow, using cooling north-easterly winds on the elevated eight-acre (CHK) block.
This kit home was tailor-made to answer the owners’ need for large bedrooms, extra cupboard space and an open shower recess. Classic Queenslanders understands the importance of providing a product to suit the individual preferences of its many clients.
By effectively using available space and hiding the front-loading washing machine in a cupboard under the island bench in the kitchen, accommodation now includes an extra large master bedroom and guest bedroom. The study can also comfortably convert to a third bedroom.

Complementing the rural appeal of the exterior, the kitchen’s up-to-the-minute appearance is striking, with the effective use of white cupboards, glass display cases with feature lighting and stainless-steel appliances.
The use of burgundy Italian splashback tiles introduces a hint of colour that mirrors the laminate benchtops. Polished mixed hardwood flooring brings a natural feel, while external timber railings with stainless-steel wiring on the verandah is a modern touch.

Surrounded by gum trees, wattles, a vegetable garden and chickens, the couple in their completed home can now appreciate waking to the sweet-smelling scent of the Australian bush as they relax in the privacy of their own special retreat.

Classic Queenslanders offers the chance for anyone to have the satisfaction of building their dream home. The company helps clients finetune an initial floor plan into a workable layout that encapsulates the features desired in the home. The company can provide plans and materials for those who wish to construct their own home, or alternatively can build to lock-up stage, as well as offering construction to full completion in some locations. Investing time with clients allows them to build homes that completely satisfy all of their requirements.
Since 1993, Classic Queenslanders has won numerous building and design awards. ‘Smart House’ principles are incorporated to promote sustainability and give clients homes that are long-lasting and distinctive.
